Florida condo insurance · HO-6
Protect what makes your condo feel like home
Your condominium association typically insures portions of the building through its master policy, but you’re often responsible for everything inside your unit — plus your belongings and liability. Orange Insurance’s Condo (HO-6) policy helps fill those gaps, whether you live there year-round, use it seasonally, or rent it to others.

Know where your coverage starts
Association coverage vs. your coverage
One of the biggest misconceptions about condo insurance is that the association’s master policy covers everything inside your unit. In reality, responsibilities are usually split.
Your association’s insurance typically helps protect
- Common areas
- Shared building structures
- Exterior portions of the building
- Association-owned property
As a unit owner, you’re often responsible for
- Personal belongings
- Interior walls, flooring, and ceilings (depending on association documents)
- Cabinets and countertops
- Appliances and fixtures
- Interior improvements and upgrades
- Liability for accidents inside your unit
- Certain assessments charged by the association
Every condominium association is different. Reviewing your association’s governing documents with your independent agent is one of the best ways to understand where your responsibility begins.
Example: A pipe bursts in the unit above yours, and water damages your kitchen ceiling, cabinets, flooring, and some of your belongings.
The association’s master policy may help with
- Shared building structure, such as framing and common walls
- Common areas, like hallways, if they were damaged too
Your Orange condo policy may help with
- Your cabinets, flooring, and interior finishes
- Your damaged furniture, electronics, and other belongings
- Extra living costs if you can’t stay in your unit during repairs
- Your share of a special assessment, if this is a covered loss on your policy
This example is for illustration only and assumes the loss is covered on your policy. Who covers what depends on your association’s governing documents, the master policy, your policy terms, and your deductibles.
What’s covered
What condo insurance helps protect
Orange Insurance’s Condo policy helps protect many of the things your association’s master policy may not cover.
Personal property
Helps protect the belongings inside your condo, including furniture, clothing, electronics, appliances, and home décor. Coverage for your belongings is available up to $1,500,000, depending on eligibility.
Interior finishes and improvements
Helps protect eligible interior features such as flooring, cabinets, countertops, built-in shelving, fixtures, and renovations. Broad protection for these interior features is automatically included for eligible units, and broader protection for your belongings is available as an add-on.
Loss assessment
If your association assesses unit owners for part of a covered loss to common property, Loss Assessment coverage may help with eligible assessments, subject to policy terms and limits. Ask your agent whether additional limits are available.
Personal liability
If someone is injured inside your condo, or you’re found legally responsible for certain property damage, liability coverage may help provide financial protection. Limits up to $500,000, subject to eligibility.
Additional living expenses
If a covered loss makes your condo temporarily uninhabitable, this coverage may help pay the extra costs of maintaining your normal lifestyle while repairs are completed:
- Temporary housing
- Hotel accommodations
- Additional meal costs
- Other necessary living expenses
Built for Florida
Coastal living comes with coastal risks.
Living in Florida means enjoying beautiful weather and coastal communities, but also preparing for hurricanes, tropical storms, wind-driven rain, and other weather-related risks. Orange Insurance’s Condo program is designed with Florida condo owners in mind.
Your agent can help explain:
- Hurricane deductible options
- Wind-related coverage considerations
- Water damage limitations
- Flood insurance considerations
- Available endorsements
- Replacement cost needs
If your policy includes wind coverage, it will include a separate hurricane deductible that applies to covered hurricane losses. Certain coastal eligibility requirements and construction standards may apply depending on the building’s age, construction type, and proximity to the coast.

Valencia Package Endorsement
