Orange Insurance FAQs
We’re here to make insurance a little easier to understand. Below you’ll find answers to common questions about Orange Insurance Exchange, your policy, payments, claims, and our transition to Orange’s new policy management platform.
Orange’s New Policy Management Platform
-
Orange Insurance Exchange is transitioning policy administration and servicing from systems previously provided through Cabrillo Coastal General Agency to Orange’s own policy management platform.
Beginning September 1, 2026, new Orange business will be quoted and managed through the new Orange platform. The transition allows Orange to provide our independent agents and Members with a more streamlined experience while continuing to deliver the coverage and service they expect.
-
No. Orange Insurance Exchange remains your insurance company. The transition primarily involves the systems and services used to administer Orange policies.
If you are already an Orange Member, your insurer remains Orange Insurance Exchange.
-
Orange’s relationship with Cabrillo is changing as Orange transitions policy administration and other functions to its own systems and operations.
Depending on when your policy was quoted or issued, some existing policy activity may continue to be handled through the prior Cabrillo-supported system during the transition period.
-
No changes to your coverage occur simply because Orange is transitioning to a new policy management platform.
Your policy’s coverages, limits, deductibles, endorsements, effective dates, and other terms remain governed by your policy documents. Any changes associated with a renewal or policy transaction will be reflected in the documents provided to you.
-
Your policy documents will identify the policy number associated with your coverage. If a policy number changes as part of a renewal or system transition, Orange or your insurance agent will provide the updated information.
-
In most cases, no immediate action is required.
If Orange needs information, a signature, payment, inspection, or other action from you, you will receive specific instructions from Orange or your independent insurance agent.
-
Members may receive instructions regarding access to Orange’s new online services as policies move to the new platform.
If action is required to establish or activate an account, Orange will provide instructions. Please follow only links contained in communications you recognize as coming from Orange or your insurance agent.
-
Your independent insurance agent remains an excellent first resource for questions about your coverage or policy.

About Orange Insurance Exchange
-
Orange Insurance Exchange is a Florida-domiciled reciprocal insurance exchange specializing in property insurance.
A reciprocal exchange is an insurance organization owned for the benefit of its Members, who are also called Subscribers. Although its structure differs somewhat from that of a traditional stock insurance company, Orange provides insurance coverage through policies much like other property insurers.
-
Orange was formed in 2023 and received its Certificate of Authority from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation that year.
Orange is led by experienced Florida property insurance professionals and works with a statewide network of independent insurance agents.
-
When you purchase an Orange policy, you become both a policyholder and a Member, or Subscriber, of Orange Insurance Exchange.
As a reciprocal insurer, Orange operates for the benefit of its Members.
-
Orange maintains financial strength ratings from independent insurance rating organizations.
Orange currently carries a Financial Stability Rating® of A (Excellent) from Demotech, Inc. and an Insurance Financial Strength Rating of BBB from KBRA.
Mortgage-company requirements can vary, so Members with questions about a particular lender should contact their lender or insurance agent.
Your Orange Policy
-
Orange generally provides renewal information in advance of your policy expiration date.
Your renewal documents will include your new premium, coverage information, payment details, and any changes applicable to the upcoming policy term.
If your mortgage company pays your insurance through an escrow account, applicable billing information may also be provided to your mortgage company.
-
Not necessarily.
Insurance premiums can change from one policy term to another based on factors such as changes in property characteristics, insured values, coverage selections, filed rates, discounts, catastrophe exposure, and other underwriting considerations.
Your renewal offer will show the premium applicable to your next policy term.
-
Your independent Orange agent can assist with many policy questions and requested changes.
Some changes may require underwriting review or supporting documentation before Orange can approve them.
-
Contact your insurance agent promptly if you refinance your mortgage, pay off your loan, or change mortgage companies.
Keeping your mortgage information current helps ensure that invoices, notices, and policy information reach the appropriate parties.
Payments
-
You can make an installment or renewal payment through the Make a Payment option on OrangeInsure.com.
Your billing documents will also contain applicable payment instructions.
-
If your insurance premium is escrowed, Orange may send applicable billing information to the mortgage company listed on your policy.
We recommend reviewing your renewal documents and confirming that Orange has the correct mortgage information on file.
-
Do not assume that your mortgage company has already made the payment.
Contact your mortgage servicer or insurance agent to confirm payment arrangements before the due date shown on your invoice.
Claims
-
Claims can be reported to Orange 24 hours a day.

The transition to Orange’s new policy management platform does not change your rights or obligations under your policy.
If you already have an open claim, continue working with the claim representative assigned to you unless you receive different instructions from Orange.
-
You may contact your insurance agent for assistance, but you do not need to wait for your agent to report a claim.
If your property has sustained damage, report the loss to Orange as soon as reasonably possible.
Take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage when it is safe to do so, and retain receipts and documentation related to emergency repairs.
Subscriber Agreement and Reciprocal Membership
-
Orange is organized as a reciprocal insurance exchange. As part of becoming a Member of the Exchange, Subscribers execute a Subscriber Agreement and Power of Attorney authorizing Orange’s Attorney-in-Fact to conduct the Exchange’s business on behalf of its Members.
The agreement is part of Orange’s reciprocal insurance structure.
-
Execution of the required Subscriber Agreement and Power of Attorney is part of becoming a Member of Orange Insurance Exchange.
Failure to complete required policy documents may affect your eligibility for coverage. If you receive a request for a signature, please complete it by the deadline provided or contact your insurance agent for assistance.
-
The Subscriber Surplus Contribution is an amount paid by Orange Members that supports the capital and financial strength of the Exchange.
The amount applicable to your policy will be shown in your policy or billing documents.
-
The amount and duration of the Subscriber Surplus Contribution depend upon the financial needs and capitalization of Orange Insurance Exchange.
As Orange grows and its financial position evolves, the contribution may be adjusted in accordance with applicable agreements, regulatory requirements, and decisions of Orange’s Attorney-in-Fact.
-
A Subscriber Savings Account, or SSA, is an accounting mechanism used by a reciprocal exchange to track amounts that may be allocated to an individual Member based upon the Exchange’s results.
An SSA is not the same as a traditional bank or savings account, and amounts reflected in an SSA are not automatically payable to a Member.
Any distributions are subject to the governing agreements, Orange’s financial condition, and applicable regulatory requirements and approvals.
-
Copies of Orange’s Subscriber Agreement and Power of Attorney and Attorney-in-Fact Agreement are available on OrangeInsure.com.
Inspections
-
Property inspections help Orange verify characteristics of the insured property and identify conditions that may affect eligibility, coverage, or potential loss exposure.
Depending upon the property, Orange may request photographs, documents, a virtual inspection, or an in-person inspection.
-
Orange may use approved third-party inspection providers to perform property surveys or inspections.
If you are unsure whether a request is legitimate, contact your insurance agent or Orange at 866.303.8970 before providing information or clicking a link.
-
Inspections may be a condition of coverage.
Failure to complete a required inspection or provide requested information could affect your policy. If you are unable to complete an inspection by the requested deadline, contact your insurance agent as soon as possible.
