Why it matters

Why this coverage matters

Privacy and security are major concerns for families, and those concerns are growing.

  • Connected home technology and smart devices have increased the need to protect data, systems, and software from attacks.
  • Criminal activity can cause real financial loss.
  • People who hold others’ nonpublic personal information may have notification obligations under state law if that information is compromised.
  • Social media has led more people to become victims of cyberbullying, which threatens emotional wellbeing and can be costly.
  • Criminals can steal an identity to open credit accounts and commit fraud.
